Spring 2011
Well, it's been a while since I've added a report! Spring seemed to come a little earlier this year as we started seeing nice temps and the water warm up in late Feb/early March. With that came a steady flow of people that were ready to hit the water after yet another COLD Winter! In March and April the redfishing was great! Big winter schools started to break-up so we were fishing more structure and began trying to get in the swing of the fish moving to their summer time pattern. When the weather allowed we would run out to the reefs and catch plenty of Sheepshead, Black Drum, Weakfish and of course the 'overfished' Black Sea Bass. Trout have not been consistent at all yet. One day we'll catch 10-15 decent fish then the next day it's a struggle to get just a few. Fortunately a voluntary release of all trout was put in place by SCDNR after back to back cold winters and it sounds like most people are releasing trout so they can spawn this summer and hopefully get some good numbers back. Flounder have begun to show up in decent numbers. We catch a few every trip while fishing for reds and trout. Bluefish and sharks are back thick in the harbor and the Spanish Mackerel should be in the harbor soon. Had quite a few reef trips the past couple of weeks. Have seen several cobia, caught a nice one last week, Spades are showing up at the nearshore reefs. Bait is all over the place now and the bigger fish are right behind!!! Looking forward to a great Summer and having the opportunity to fish with many new and previous clients!

July/August Fishing
The fishing has been awesome! July and August were very busy and the fishing was excellent for trout and redfish. We had many many days where 40-60 trout were caught and 10-20 redfish. Live shrimp and DOA's were the go to bait for trout while shrimp was producing smaller reds and finger mullet or chunked mullet for larger reds. I'm real happy to be seeing the numbers of trout we have been catching over the past couple of months and REALLY looking forward to a great Fall. Spanish Mackeral, Ladyfish, Bluefish and Bonnethead Sharks have been steady, too. I have had the privelege to fish with and get to know many great groups and families this summer...thank you!! I can't wait for Fall fishing and cooler temps!

May/June 2010
Fishing has been great the last month and a half. In May many of the charters were run to out to the nearshore reefs where we caught plenty of sheepshead, weakfish, spanish mackeral and towards the end of the month cobia. Fishing inshore was also very productive. Flounder and reds were the primary fish caught with a few trout thrown in the mix. Was beginning to worry about the trout after the cold winter as we would only see a few here and there. That seems to have changed going into June. Have had many double digit days with the trout so far this month. The flounder and reds continue to produce as well. Shrimp are in the creeks and bait is plentiful. Most trout are being caught on live shrimp, reds on pretty much anything now with finger mullet or menhaden being the most productive. Sharks, bluefish and ladyfish are thick in the harbor now. Fished the reefs several times and caught plenty of Spadefish. The weather has been great but very hot this month....the plus side is that the winds have been light for the most part!

April 2010
Great month of fishing!! Glad the warm weather finally moved back in and the unusually cold winter we had is gone! Now we just need a break from the wind. April was a great month and we had many great days fishing for redfish and sheepshead. On the few nice (light wind) days we had we were able to fish some of the nearshore reefs and load up on black sea bass, sheepshead and weakfish in the past couple of weeks. Most trips were run inshore because of the wind. Docks produced many redfish with mud minnows producing the best. The trout bite has still been a little hit and miss, some days we get into them good and the next day none....did catch a 4 pounder the last week in April! Still waiting to see the effect the cold winter had on them....reports from DNR don't sound very promising but we have been seeing fish! We have also been catching quite a few flounder fishing around docks and closer to the inlets. Sharks have shown back up inshore. Caught several bonnetheads over the last week. Looking forward to a great summer!!

Fall 2009
Oct-Dec 2009: Trout and Redfish bite was great!! Had many great groups on board with plenty of action for all. Many days with 30+ fish....love Fall fishing! Live shrimp, minnows and cut mullet were productive and still readily available early on and as the water cooled off (quick this year!) we went mainly to artificials with plenty of fish being caught on DOA's and gulps. Once a school of redfish was located it was a fish every cast...mainly slot size fish but many 27-30in fish too. Did some sheepshead fishing and the bite was outstanding! Caught on fiddlers, oysters and live shrimp. Weather has been less than desireable and unusual for Charleston since Thanksgiving it seems. Haven't hit 60 degrees in 3 weeks now....what's going on??
Trout and redfish are moving real slow now with the water temps in the mid 40's but still hanging on. Keeping my fingers crossed that the trout will make it through the Winter without a big fish kill but so far they seem to be fighting it out. Ready for Spring and some warm weather to move back in!

September 2009
Things have slowed down since Labor Day but the fishing is consistently getting better. The trout bite is starting off great! Have run many trips this month with great numbers of trout and redfish. Most productive bait has still been live shrimp and many fish on finger mullet or cut mullet. October fishing should be great!!....would be nice if the wind would take a break though!

Week of 8/30 - 9/5
Ran 4 half day trips and a 3/4 day trip this week. Wind has been cranking!! Plenty of fish around....caught trout, flounder, a few reds, ladyfish (everywhere now), bluefish, bonnetheads, stingrays, and got into some real nice spanish mackeral. Everything caught on live shrimp or menhaden.
